What is the Stratford-upon-Avon big wheel?

The Stratford big wheel is a 40-metre Ferris wheel on the banks of the River Avon with six-seater viewing pods, offering views across Stratford-upon-Avon and beyond. Look out for The RSC theatres, the River Avon, Holy Trinity Church and, in the opposite direction from the town, the Welcombe Hills, topped by the unmistakable Obelisk.

This is the second time Stratford has had a big wheel, after the first in summer 2017. In 2018, the Stratford-upon-Avon big wheel is even bigger and the entrance now faces the river, as opposed to last year’s car-park orientation.

The ride seems fast compared to last year, though you are getting more rotations for your money. We counted six turns of the wheel on a recent evening visit.
