Top 5 Stratford-upon-Avon events in June no. 1: 1940s Tea Party at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage

To celebrate 100 years of the Royal Air Force, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage is hosting a 1940s Tea Party on Saturday June 2 from 11am-4pm.
Attend in themed attire if you like, listen to vintage music, play traditional games, and hear stories of visitors to the cottage during the war years. Plus, there’s afternoon tea available – non-rationed, of course.
It’s free to attend with a ticket to the cottage or a Full Story ticket (here’s why Stratfordblog thinks this is a great investment for your time in Stratford-upon-Avon). There’s a generous 30 per cent discount on Full Story tickets for serving members of the armed forces.

Christopher Eccleston and Niamh Cusack, The RSC’s current Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, open the 65th Stratford-upon-Avon Poetry Festival on Sunday June 17 with recitals reflecting this year’s peace theme.
Other highlights of the Stratford-upon-Avon Poetry Festival include an appearance by poet Tony Harrison, a poetry mass on Wednesday June 20 at the Guild Chapel, and a Midsummer bonfire at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage (Saturday June 23 at 7.30pm),

Celebrate the summer solstice in Stratford-upon-Avon at one of these events.
The RSC is hosting a Midsummer Dance Party in The Dell (on the gardens on the banks of the Avon, towards Holy Trinity Church) on Sunday June 24. There are craft and dance workshops from 11am-2.15pm (and on the day before), with the Romeo-and-Juliet-inspired procession and dance finale from 3pm-4pm.

At Mary Arden’s Farm near Stratford-upon-Avon, the longest day of the year is celebrated across the entire weekend with Midsummer Madness. There will be circus skills, face painting, crafts, Tudor tales, fairy gardens, and a “unicorn”. The farm is open 10am-5pm Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24.

Just sneaking into the month of June, the annual Stratford River Festival is a two-day celebration of life by the river. It’s a hugely popular town event – last year more than 70,000 people enjoyed the River Festival.
This year, on Saturday June 30 and Sunday July 1, the Stratford River Festival presents many free events and activities, stalls, food and drink outlets, live music, dancing and much more, from morning till night.
